MINISTRY
Preaching and sharing the word in Spanish is a skill that I have not
yet mastered but one which I enjoy. Usually, with the help of props or skits I
get my point across. The picture below
is from a recent sermon on prayer. The
message was that when we pray, we put on God’s protection - gloves on our
hands, glasses on our eyes and hardhats on our heads.

Matt preaching about God’s
protection
The last week of July we will have a VBS near our land. Our prayer is that 60 children will attend
and that this event will allow our name to be better known in our
neighborhood. Please pray for God’s
protection and guidance with our VBS and that the evil one is kept away.
-Thanks and praise to Jesus for our mission team from Texas who will come to help with our VBS. Pray for their safe travel to and from Puerto Rico. Also, pray that our VBS will witness to many.

Confirmation of Mark Tanney
-Thanks and praise to God for Mark’s
confirmation. Pray that God would keep him always in the true faith.
HOME
The past months in Puerto Rico have been hard for Susan and I. We have been doing cultural shock. Not all of mission work is exciting and fun; sometimes, it is lonely and frustrating. We have been out of the States now one year and miss a lot of “little things.” In May and June it was difficult to celebrate our birthdays without our friends and family. Often we have thought “Why are we here?” or “What are we really accomplishing?” However, we do know that God is good all the time and that he has a purpose for us, as he did for Esther, in such a time like this.
-Pray for God to renew our spirits as we do culture shock and that he
would then strengthen us from this experience and then use us to glorify his
name.
-Pray for our families and friends who miss us.
-Give thanks that Susan has found a teaching position for next year!
