Mision Luterana de Puerto Rico
January, 2003
NEW MINISTRY
In April 2002, Matt received and accepted a call from the mission board
to serve as evangelistic Missionary to Puerto Rico. The Lutheran Church-MO Synod has had a missionary presence here
in Mayaguez for the past ten years.
There is a small congregation made up of about five families. Our job is to help this group grow to become
a self-sustaining church, able to call and support their own pastors.

friends.
The plan is to have two missionary families working together – the
Tanney’s (Mike, Cathy, Lucas, Nathan, Mark and Adam) and us. During Christmas and New Year’s we presented
the birth of Christ with puppets, music and lights. We hope that as we touch the lives of the children in our
neighborhood
God will open doors into the lives of the adults as well.
-Pray for our puppet ministry, our team and that the Lord would give us creative ways to reach the lost!

NEW HOME
December 2002 was a busy time of transition. We said goodbye to Guatemala after being there for 4 ˝ months. We finished language training and set out for Puerto Rico. We have been busy with buying a car, unpacking, setting up our new home and orientation.
-Thanks and praise to God for safe travel. Please pray as we adjust to our new life here in Puerto Rico.
