Construction

Iowa group happy for a job well done

Construction has been at the center of our lives these past few months. We have received/hosted four different volunteer groups who have helped with the construction of the church and school.

Their accomplishments have surpassed all of our expectations! We have tried to keep you up to date by posting photos of the progress on our website. lcms-prmission.org. Thanks to these wonderful volunteers from Iowa, Michigan, and Indiana, the walls are all up on the second floor. We are now working on securing funds for the roof on the second floor, windows and doors for the whole structure. The church has exhausted all of their own funds, so we wait in great expectation to see how the Lord will provide. Praise the Lord with us for the joyful service of all of the “Kingdom Builders” volunteers who have given so much of their time and resources to further the ministry here in Mayaguez. Pray that the Lord will give us wisdom and resources to be able to complete this ministry facility.

Kid’s Club

  
We have continued our monthly “Kid’s Club” meetings with the children who live in the neighborhoods surrounding the church property. The bad news is that the city is no longer allowing us to use the community center. The center is now being exclusively used for sports activities. The good news is that they have allowed us to use a covered basketball court in the same neighborhood for our meetings. We were also able to use the court to present a Christmas puppet show. Pray that relationships with children and families involved in the Kid’s Club would continue to grow… and that the Lord will draw many to our March get together. Pray for the continued use of the basketball court, that the Lord will give us favor with city officials who grant the permission for its use. Praise God with us that even though we can’t use the community center He has provided us with another place to meet.

Confirmation

  

We celebrated the confirmation of Abimael and Daisy in January. Their two young children were baptized in November. Praise the Lord for these new members He has brought into His family. Pray for protection for this family as their faith and commitment grow and are strengthened.

Pray for the group of students from Christ Lutheran High School in Davenport, IA who will come here during Holy Week to help us with a mini VBS for these children.
